This summer, I was contacted the by amazing Nicole from Southern Weddings about contributing to their V5 Magazine.  They were composing an article about the significance of the wedding ceremony, and wanted me to throw in a few tips or suggestions.  I was so elated- mainly because that is the exact heart of why I love what I do.  I am passionate about making sure my brides have ceremonies that are personal, and full of intentional details. Of course, I also couldn’t be more excited, or honored, to have my name in print in the Southern Weddings magazine.  The heart behind this company sings in unison with mine.

If you haven’t picked up V5 yet, you simply must (it would make a perfect stocking stuffer..).  They packed the magazine to the brim with beauty! A couple of my suggestions were featured throughout the article, but I figured I would share five of my favorite ceremony tips here.  Enjoy!

1)   You aren’t obligated to do the ‘wedding march’. Look for instrumental or folk versions of your favorite hymn or melody for a southern twist in your ceremony processional.
2)   Thou shalt give an explanation! If you are including a meaningful verse or reading in your ceremony, share the reason why in your program.  Your guests love the inside scoop.
3)   How did your groom sweep you off your feet? Ask your officiant to weave your story into the ceremony message. Those sincere, personal moments will be sure to capture everyone’s attention.
4)   Thank you, Jesus, we made it! Sit a spell before you head down the aisle and pray with the precious girls who will be standing beside you. It’s bound to soothe the nervous jitters!
5)   For outdoor “I do’s,” greet your guests with that charming southern hospitality. Provide mason jars filled with sweet tea for them to sip while you tie the knot.
I’m curious, what are you doing to make your ceremony more meaningful?
