I think my cheeks are still a bit pink after reading through Kathryn’s sweet words over on Every Last Detail. 🙂 Ashton Events is featured on ELD today and, as a team, we’re delighted to share these images from the very talented Catherine Ann Photography with you!

We had so much fun working alongside Kathryn + James! They grew up in central Florida, even though they now live in Connecticut, and wanted to celebrate their wedding with their nearest & dearest in the charming little town of Lakeland. I knew we would instantly be a good fit when Kathryn began to describe all of the personal touches she wanted to include in their day.

Kathryn was easily one of the most decisive brides I have ever worked with, and also one of the sweetest! She has a talent for balancing a direct idea with a critical eye in the most loving way. It made the decision process so simple for us! I’d like to think we found that same balance in her wedding design. Everything was very exact and precise- without any extra fluff. And yet, there was romance, elegance and personal touches throughout the entire day. It was a beautiful harmony.

And isn’t Honey, their dog, the sweetest!?

I loved that their proposal took place in the MET (you can read that sweet story here), and we used hints of that gallery-style emphasis throughout the day. The boxwood at the welcome area, and again for the escort display were so chic and sophisticated.

A personal favorite moment? I loved the unity tree that they incorporated. James’ parents own a citrus farm. They planted orange trees specifically for the wedding, and selected one for Kathryn + James to keep. Both sets of parents provided soil from their homes for the ceremony. Kathryn’s parents actually moved during her engagement, and they were thoughtful enough to save soil before they officially moved. The dads helped move the tree during the ceremony, which I thought was so sweet given the union of the families.
