Ready to spruce up your warm drink?  Or add an adorable decoration to your cupcakes?
We spotted this blogpost on Green Wedding Shoes, and just had to try it for ourselves!

Our Supplies:

Magazines
Bamboo Skewers
Scotch Tape (We used Satin)
Scissors

To create the paper flowers, tear out a single page of the magazine (We tried to use a page with a relatively solid color), and fold it like an accordion (long ways).  We got three folds out of the paper, which seemed to be about typical.  Then cut slits 3/4 of the way into the accordion-ed paper.  Like this:

We ended up cutting each accordion into half (because there was simply too much to wrap).  We then taped one end of the accordion to the skewer, and started wrapping.  At the end, we secured it with another piece of tape.  We then, for lack of a better word, “poufed” the flowers until they came to life.

And that’s it!  We loved that the green paper turned the flower into a Christmas tree, as well as the blue surprise that peeked out of the burgundy flowers.  This would be super easy to color coordinate by just using scrapbook paper- or even using newspaper or music pages would be fun!

Oh, and one last shot of the flowers in action:

We love it! What about you?
Oh, and tomorrow- get ready for some Grinch-worthy cake!
(Don’t worry, you’ll love it!)
