Okay, so we want to make today’s post brief, because we can’t WAIT to show you
the pictures from Brian & Adrienne’s wedding (being posted OH so soon!).
However, we have a playful holiday chalkboard for you today, and it goes a little something like this:

Our Supplies:

Chalkboard Paint
Primer
Popcorn (We used 1 snack bag)
Piece of Wood
Chalk
Needle & Thread

Oh, and two forgotten items for the picture:
Sponge Brush
Hot Glue Gun (A late addition)

We primed the piece of wood with two coats (our wood soaked it up like crazy!).
After it dried (about 2 hours), we painted three coats of the chalkboard paint onto it
(1 hr. window between coats).
We found the sponge brush was far more smooth than a normal paint brush.
We let that dry for a day (just to be certain).
We then took the sponge brush, made it slightly damp, and ran it over the board
(this helps keep the chalk more like ink, and less like dust).
We wrote “Joy to the World.”  Actually, we wrote it twice.  The first time it didn’t fit. =]
We then strung the popcorn along the thread until it was long enough to wrap around the piece of wood.  After tying off the end of the popcorn, we heated up the glue gun and started tying it all together!
We found that drops of glue about 3 inches apart was the most successful
(it didn’t strain the popcorn, but also didn’t let it sag).
And.. Tada!

(Sorry, we know it isn’t centered).

For such a random idea, we thought it turned out super cute!
We also thought (post threading popcorn) that it would have been fun to add cranberries to the garland.
What about you?
