Houston, we’ve got a problem.
Okay, so it’s not THAT bad.. but we do need to admit that today’s hoopla is a little hoop-less. There is a lot going on today and tomorrow, and we may have to bow out with some relatively lame hooplas. But if our errand running for the next week of posts is any indication: you will again be enthralled and giddy with the holiday items we have coming your way! Okay, so maybe not giddy & enthralled- but rather intrigued?! =]
For today’s Hoopla, we put together a list of some of our all time favorite Christmas movies! With all the holiday projects we have going on around us, we typically have some sort of something playing in the background. Classics = More work done. New Movies = Less work done.
Therefore: here are some of our favorite (and most productive) films:
#1
Who doesn’t love a good musical? Voted a family favorite, we recommend this one for an multi-step afternoon project. You can be up and moving around, and good ol’ Bing will keep you singing for hours!
#2
Will Ferrell does a terrific job in “Elf,” bringing the Christmas spirit back to the grumpiest of men.
We recently watched this in a group from ages 2 to 35, and everyone had a blast!
#3
A great movie for a snowy evening, with a cup of hot cocoa and a fire roaring. This classic tells a great story about the importance of faith and family. Hip Hip Hooray!
#4
Ah, a true chick flick. This one is a personal all time favorite. We can’t promise you anything but cheese, quick one-liners, and a whole lot of 90’s hair- but we can promise that any Christmas present wrapping will fly by with this sucker on the screen. Should we admit we have the movie memorized?
#5
Well, duh. 🙂 And we can guarantee the men will watch this one with you
(just not during any football games).
#6
We cannot believe how many kids have not seen this magnificent movie. With an all star cast (okay, really just Macaulay and the two burglars), this comedy will be sure to squash any holiday blues. Baking cookies? Turn this classic on and you will be amazed at the dozens you check off the list!
#7
You aren’t surprised, are you? Now put your apron back on and tackle the remaining recipes-
Merry Christmas, you filthy animals!
#8
This one is for adults only, kids. However, after a hard day’s crafting, popping in this late night movie while enjoying some popcorn & apples will be a great reward. If you can find it on TV, we’d recommend that version (it deletes a very unnecessary storyline)- but either way, it’s a good one!
#9
Now, there are two Miracles: one from 1947, and one from 1994. We would happily recommend either! We especially enjoy the spunky Susan from 1994, but mostly because it reminds us of a dear friend. =] Whip up a pot of soup, and enjoy this movie while it simmers!

As Community pointed out to us last week, claymation is anything but dead. So as you build your gingerbread houses and stick on those gumdrops, enjoy the sights of this 1964 classic!
Well, those are our top ten.. what did we miss??
