Need an extra something special to decorate your doors?
Well, our Holiday Hoopla Day 11 item is just that!
This is a very simple way to spruce up any door knob, and you can get as creative as you want!
White Acrylic Paint
Empty Soup Can (without label)
Exacto Knife
Paintbrush
Cranberries
Kraft Ribbon
Needle & Thread
First, we turned the can upside down and drilled holes into the sides of the can. We thought we would be able to use our knife, but it wasn’t quite tough enough. We ended up using an electric screwdriver to get the job done. We then painted the outside of the can. We liked the crispness of the inner white stripe, but wanted to add a bit more personality to it. So we scratched out the word “JOY,” and painted the top (originally the bottom).
Next, we strung the cranberries along a string (which we had double threaded for stability). We strung the kraft ribbon through one hole of the can, and wrapped the cranberries around the ribbon. Then we strung the ribbon through the other hole and tied the two ends together inside the can. And it turned out like this:
And then we hung it on the nearest door:
We wish the pictures did it justice- it turned out so well!
Another idea- add a bell to the inside of the can for an instant “doorbell!”
