In central Florida, we get to be a part of a fantastic community.  We recently had the opportunity to design a baby shower for a dear friend of ours.  She is an avid reader of Dallas Clayton’s blog, who is the author of “An Awesome Book.”  If you haven’t read the book, we highly recommend it.  Full of imaginative characters, bright colors, and plenty of inspiration for kids, it is a phenomenal book.
Awesome, really.
(Ok, we promise to stop with cheesiness)

When planning the shower, we couldn’t think of a better inspiration for Lee Anne’s shower than “An Awesome Book.” Click here to read it.  From the invitations to the decor to the activities, we got to incorporate bits and pieces from the book, as well as some of Lee Anne’s passions.

Now it’s your turn: take a look!

The invitations:

A glimpse into the day (provided by JenLynn Photography):

Isn’t she a GORGEOUS momma? Lee Anne loves writing (and is awfully talented).  Her hubby gave her a typewriter on their wedding day- so sweet, right?  We incorporated her wedding gift by customizing notecards with “An Awesome Book” graphics, and had guests fill them up with several writing prompts.  Watching the guests stumble through using the typewriter was entertainment in itself!  We then stuck the notecards in a little photo album for her to keep, along with pictures of the day.
Another activity of the day was having guests guess (tongue twister) when the Littlest Roquemore will actually arrive.  The winner will receive.. “An Awesome Book!” (Surprise, surprise!)

Since the book is filled with a myriad of colors, we used an assortment as well.
If you look closely at the book, you can see the significance behind the multicolored silverware.
And if you haven’t read it yet, what are you waiting for?!
We topped off the tables with cupcake cones- delish!

Another characteristic of the momma-to-be is her love of homemade ice cream.
It took us all of about two seconds to add that to the menu.  Don’t mind if we do!
We whipped out some sundae glasses, and dished up some delectable vanilla and chocolate chip ice cream.  YUM!

Lee Anne loves the authenticity behind homemade items and hand-me-downs.  We encouraged the guests to contribute some of their favorite books to build the Roquemore collection.  It was a joy to hear the reasons behind each and every story.  Needless to say, the Roquemore littlest is going to be a bookworm!

We had an amazing afternoon with these wonderful women, and are so grateful to be part of their lives!
One last shoutout: For every copy of “An Awesome Book” sold, one copy is given away.  We can’t speak highly enough of Dallas Clayton and the message he is sending to youngsters across the nation.

Congratulations to John & Lee Anne!
We can’t wait to meet your little bundle of joy!
