Welcome to my website, and to my blog!
I am so excited to finally launch Ashton Events. Seriously, it’s been worse than waiting on SYTYCD to start again (which is saying something). The day has finally arrived and I could not be more excited to share my passion with you!
For those of you that are just trying to learn a little more about me, my likes, and my style, here is a short summary:
I have a fabulous family. I can’t think of a better way to describe my family than as the biggest blessing the Lord has given me.
My childhood home was approximately 2.4 miles from Maloney farms. If you aren’t from my hometown, you should know this means two things: 1. It was a small town. 2. I consider myself a corn connoisseur.
I am tall. I grew up reading “The Very Tall Little Girl.” For any mothers with a height conscious daughter- it was pure genius. I learned that being tall meant that I could reach the top shelf, even if I couldn’t stand up in my friend’s playhouses. The funny part is, I am the shortest in my immediate family.
I am competitive. From tennis to card games, I have a hard time containing my spiritedness. One would think that would stem from having a large extended family, or from having two older brothers. However, I strongly believe all competitive credit is due to a certain grandma. I grew up playing any sport possible, and had the privilege of playing collegiate tennis.
I love simple designs with creative flair. I have a knack for transforming an object into something else, and, thus, I am a garage sale junkie. Brides often hear from me after “the most unbelievable find ever.”
I love interpersonal relationships. Part of this stems from the communication classes I took in college, but I love relating to people. I have been surrounded by amazing friends my entire life, and they are a large part of why I started planning events.
So boil all of this down, and what do you get?
A family-loving, corn-eating, very competitive tall girl,
who desires to create with the unexpected for the people surrounding her.

i cannot say how happy i am to see that you’ve launched your own event planning business! i often think back to the time when you were the intern for our annual meeting and we did the chinese theme complete with customized fortune cookies, chopsticks and researching the chinese symbol for “giving”. wow! everyone loved it! since then all of our donors look forward to whatever we might do next with great anticipation!
you are marvelous, laura! i was blessed to have you in my class, as my intern and now as my inspiration!
